The Process ☑
When the weather is right 🌅, we hand tap every maple tree. The tap allows the maple sap to flow out of the tree for us to collect. Once we collect all of the sap, we run it through a reverse osmosis system which first increases the sugar content in the sap by removing some of the water that does not contain sugar, then the unit helps remove small particulate matter from the sap.
After the sap has passed through the reverse osmosis unit, it is boiled down to evaporate most of the 🚰 water content until it leaves a thick, sugary syrup. It takes about 50 gallons of maple sap to make 1 gallon of maple syrup. Once the syrup is the right temperature and the correct density, it is removed from the evaporator and run through a filter press to remove impurities. The filter press removes any sugar sands or impurities that might be present in the syrup. From the filter press, the syrup is pumped into barrels and heat sealed until bottled. Once ordered, we ship it directly from our family 👪 to yours!
